Screen-Shot-2015-10-13-at-12.38.40-PM-300x151Douglas Blackburn (Associate Professor, School of Journalism & Graphic Communication, FAMU) brought his Reporting on the Arts and Popular Culture class to tour the Facility for Arts Research on July 14, 2015.

The students explored the 3D printing labs, featuring the Makerbot, the Z-cor (powder printer), and the M-MAP (large-scale 3D printer), as well as FAR’s two laser cutters, the in-house woodshop, and, finally, the Small Craft Advisory bindery and press rooms, where they looked through completed Small Craft Advisory Press (SCAP) books. For some of the students, this was their first time experiencing both 3D printing and letterpress printing, which is the unique dichotomy of processes that FAR has to offer.
