FSU Students Collaborate on Design/Build Project with Neonatal Unit

In conjunction with The Neonatal Follow Up Clinic at Ohio State University, three FSU students are working under the mentorship of Florida State University Art Professor Rob Duarte at the Facility for Arts Research this summer. FSU graduate student Noah Brock, and undergraduates Holly Weinrauch and Anne Haines are collaborating to design and build a device that will safely and accurately test the neurological response time for children with cerebral palsy (aged 12-36 months).

The students have had the opportunity to meet with children and create plaster casts of their hands for reference while making device mockups. The final device will administer a puff of air to the child’s palm or fingers, and must at all times be within 2mm of the child’s skin.
