FAR Spaces and Concepts Act as a Springboard for Design and Architecture Students

In the summer and fall of 2012, FAR offered FSU Interior Design and FAMU Architecture students a physical space, vision, and objectives on which to project design solutions that build rich living / working spaces for visiting artists and researchers. Students in Jim Dawkins’ Studio II and Valerie Goodwin’s Architectural Design 3 classes toured the facility, critically surveyed the space, and did research on other residency programs before developing their own designs. Though FAR has no plans to host living quarters at this time, staff greatly enjoyed envisioning alternate possibilities for use of spaces with the students.

FAR staff attended the defense of the schematic design solutions on Florida State’s campus on August 9, 2012 and attended a jury at the FAMU School of Architecture on October 26, 2012.
